I find the Q to be fine for entering contacts and appointments. That's mostly what I use it for (well, and obviously the phone function). The keyboard really helps. Also, the sync with windows outlook (big at most workplaces) is really well done.

Can't speak to the iSync functionality as I'm not currently using a mac. Have a windows laptop at the moment.

Yeah, I do have the option to sync to either Windows or OS X, I'd rather sync to OS X, but if whichever phone I get doesn't sync well then I'll just bite the bullet and sync it with Windows.

How is the bluetooth functionality on the Q? I'll definitely want a bluetooth headset for whatever phone I get, so the quality has to be great.

Thanks for all the input so far everyone! :)

I now have a Sony Ericsson M600i - the small brother of the P990. It really is excellent and VERY Mac-like. It feels like an iPod and even comes in white. It doesn't yet talk iSync, but still I feel would pass as an 'Apple' phone if the logo was there.

I'm loking into one of these. I can't decide whether I need a camera or not as that was kind of the justification for a new phone (my t610 camera is appauling).

ANyway, how do you find the m600 keyboard? Usable? Does it feel like a qwerty keyboard (it's double press isn't it)?

I think I've come to the conclusion that I really don't like Windows Mobile OS.

So it looks like I'm left with the Treo. I think that's gonna be it, unless anyone else has any other nuggets of wisdom to sway my opinion one more time. ;)

for what it's worth, the bluetooth on the Q (like all motorola phones) is really excellent. I've been using bluetooth since october 2004 when the V710 was one of the first phones to sport bluetooth- and the Q has not disappointed me once on that front.

That was actually one of the first reasons why I started looking at the Q. I'll use a bluetooth headset pretty much exclusively, so the phone I get will definitely need to have a solid bluetooth function.

Alright Apple. Whatever you release, just make sure it's NOT a smartphone!

I took the plunge this afternoon and opted for the Palm Treo 700p. I got it for $399 after a $100 mail-in rebate, so I'm okay with that. :)

I got the internet plan with it because they knocked an additional $100 off the phone. It's $45 a month, and I have to have it for two months. So if I don't still want it after two months then I can cancel it and I will have basically saved myself $10.

Granted I've only had it for about two hours, but so far it's great! :D

download to computer

I'm an architect and my question is.....is it possible to after downloading an email to your Palm with an attachment (cad drawing) to tranfer the drawing to my computer? And after revising the cad drawing download the drawing back to the smartphone and send it back.

Is this file just a file, or are you viewing it on your Palm in some third party program?

As for transferring files, I really don't know since I just got the phone today. ;)

file

I don't need to view the file on the phone. Most of the files (cad drawings) are large format - 36" x 24" - and when I'm traveling I bring my 17" MBP. Some of the time I'm unable to get a internet connection, so the phone would be used as a way to receive the files. And after working on the drawings, send them back to my client.

I refute this claim with every fibre of by being. Absolutely loathed the O2 Exec I had - almost exclusively because of the poorness of WM5.

well... apparently its not an Apple fone coz it hangs like windows.

when u gathered a significant amount of sms/emails the system will go crazy, freeze, stop loading apps, memory error, random shut down, you won't even get what you want when pressing the keys (i found it out using my telephone banking while i failed to pass the PIN check)

I have only read the first post (sorry im lazy)

I just want to add my $0.02...
..Dont get a Microsoft phone, it will freeze, crash and never work 100% with a mac

I had the Palm 650 for a while and it was great works perfect with Mac the only problem is it seems a bit outdated!

I hate to say this but that sounds very mac-like currently (I've just been talking to my colleague's about his macbook woes).
