No audible response from my IPhone 8 Plus?

My iPhone 8 Plus suddenly stopped giving me any sound notifications for anything -- keyboard clicks, lock screen, calls, messages, etc. NO SOUND. I have looked through every setting and all are set correctly. What's up?

Have you tried turning the phone off and back on? If you did, have you tried "resetting all settings" ?

I tried that a few times, then last night I tried it several times in succession. Finally, I left it off overnight and this morning --ureka! I have sound. LOL.
