Someone gave me an avi file to watch and there is no sound. When I first opened it started playing, and I was prompted, you need to download additional features, or something to that effect, but i closed it, because the video was playing. There is no sound.

I also tried playing it in a DIVX player and that did not work as well.

Any ideas?

open the video with VLC and open the Media Information window to see what audio codec is used. you probably need AC3 in Perian to view it in QuickTime Player.
