When my 2018 MacBook Pro is closed and connected to an external monitor (tried multiple), the Mac will not pickup any audio in the Sound panel, Siri, QuickTime (audio recording). AppleCare said the internal mic will not work when the cover is shut. Does that sound right? As soon as I open the laptop mic input works fine.

Sounds about right, seeing as the microphone is located in the area inside the laptop, it wouldn't actually work when closed...
