I have been having some dGPU issues with my 2016 MBP, which Apple recently repaired. I am now noticing that automatic graphics switching doesn't work for my Mac until I start gfxCardStatus. From boot, it will use the AMD chip until I launch gfxCardStatus, at which point the graphics card will switch over to the intel chip. This is killing my battery life, and a pain.

This is with no applications open that require the AMD chip, and no external monitor plugged in.

I plan on taking my Mac back into the store, but is anyone else having this issue?

On Sierra I still see the checkbox for graphics switching under the Energy Saver tab in System Preferences.

Yep - option is still there and is checked for my machine. It just won’t actually do anything for me, dGPU 100% of the time.
