Hello all!

Currently on 15.2

This issue was happening the past three days before I had even went ahead with an update.

I can place a call and receive a call. I cannot hear anyone on the other end, nor can they hear me. I can hang up the call.

I restarted the phone and still no sound on calls when I answer. I also cannot get Siri to hear me in the setup or at all. When I record new videos, there is no sound present in them.

My older videos already on my phone, are played with sound just fine.

When I record new videos, the sound speaker icon is darkened out in grey.

When I am on the screen with a phone call, the speaker button it automatically highlighted in white but there is no sound to be heard at all. The call just remains on with the seconds timer running in the background as though the call can be heard.

I can also play music out loud from my phone on my Tidal music app.

Any insight appreciated.

Audio issues are a historic problem with iPhone 7. Audio IC chip problem.
Do an internet search “iPhone 7 audio problems”. Lots of (discouraging) info available.

I've honestly never had any single problem with my phone!!!!

I am completely perplexed as to how this has now come out of the clear blue- I hope others have seen this and can confirm what it is or that there is a simple enough fix.

I shall look that up- thank you for the heads up on a non pleasant search!

$100 bucks if that's the problem and if that company in the link was to fix the issue . . .

Anyone else have a 7 and going through this all of a sudden?

My iPhone 7 is a wreck. It doesn’t have audio problems but it has a different disease: Loop Disease. (Look that one up too). Connectivity problems.

Geez Louise I’m getting anxiety reading all that- I’m sorry. I mean I know our phones are aged I better be proactive and make a choice.

Backup the phone lol and make a choice rather! @$!&

Based on my experience with my iPhone 7 and what I’ve read about them, it would be wise to have a Plan B ready in case one day it decides to go belly up.
Some iPhone 7s work flawlessly, while there’s definitely others that have had a short life span.

It’s true. My phone has been an absolute gem up until now.

I’m starting to worry so I am slowly having to subscribe to the fact that this may very well NOT get better or fixed.

I don’t want to send my phone to a company I don’t have any local experience with for that supposed fix either. Especially since I’m not sure that will be the fix.

I’m due for an upgrade for years but haven’t done it. I usually get my phone at apple. It maybe this time it might make sense to get it from my carrier since I haven’t upgraded in 7 years

I’ll be backing up the phone tonight for sure. Now even my camera is acting up- it’s shaking and buzzing with no focus really. I can still shoot pics and videos- just not wonderful anymore.

Could my using alcohols wipes have anything to do with this! I wipe the phone down a few times a week generously

?

Alcohol wipes are harmless. You just wouldn’t want to pour liquid alcohol over it.
Ok cool. I mean I spray alcohol on a paper towel cause it’s cheaper but if the screen is fine the phone should be fine internally I imagine!

UGH now it seems as though Twitter and YouTube (both in safari) aren’t playing video- I’m not sure if that’s related to this phone going downhill.

Boy oh boy I’m trying to hold on!

I currently am struggling to back up the phone to my hard drive. My laptop doesn’t have enough room and I tried to follow a video on how to set up terminal to auto undo backups to the hard drive and not the computer- but no success.

Any advice on how I can back this up easily to my external without all this needing it to go onto my laptop first?

Back it up to iCloud. If you don’t have space on iCloud, pay the $0.99 cents/month for 50 GB and back it up.
You have me there. Though, I cannot fathom as to why it's so ass backwards to simply save to an external hard drive. I hear you though and it does look like I may need to go that route unfortunately.

I have finally weeded out as video where I have been able to directly get my backup to save to my external hard drive. this man deserves an award and a cookie!

I do feel a lot better now that I have a recent copy as I move through these testy iPhone7 plus waters!

How is everyones phone doing? still no phone calls able to be heard on my phone. Thankfully I can play music still! keep it going 2022!!

My camera (terrible shaking and full blur) is going now too and it making audible noises when opened- from the actual lens of the phone. I'll ride it out! Hopefully!

Anyone local to NY ever look deeper into fixing it locally rather than having the phone sent out?
