No chime

Is there a problem if I boot up computer and I don't get the chime?

We hate to disappoint. 🙂

However, you might try installing something like this:

http://www5e.biglobe.ne.jp/~arcana/StartupSound/index.en.html

And using it to reset the volume to a desired level, and see if that fixes it? Might as well get the extra functionality of being able to control it, while you're at it. 🙂
