No confirmation email?

I am curious, why are people so scared if they didn't get an e-mail?

If you have an order confirmation number from them, doesn't that alone mean they received your order?

It should, but it doesn't mean there isn't a snag like your CC used as typed in wrong, etc, since the order wasn't accepted fully into the system yet.

People like to know that everything has checked out A'OK.
 
During the at&t ordering process for the original iphone 4, a lot of people who didn't get confirmation emails (but did get confirmation numbers) had their orders lost.

But if I typed in the wrong CC info wouldn't it stop me from continuing because they dont verify that you have the right info when you are finalizing the order?
 
It has been almost 2 hours, still no email. BUMMER! Order #4895, so it's up there a ways. Guess I will just wait and see :(
 
Crap, my wife ordered mine for me cause I was at work til 1. I don't think she wrote down any confirmation number... ugh. No confirmation e-mail for me yet, it's been at least an hour and a half since my order was placed.
 
i finished my order about 10 min before 3 and got my confirmation almost immediately
 
I've got my confirmation email, but has anyone credit cards been charged or placed a hold on them? Mine hasn't at all. I mean nothing is there. No pending, no hold, nothing. That makes me a little worried.

I ordered mine around 6:30AM PST and got my confirmation email immediately after. I just checked my bank account and apple has already taken the money out of my account.

I don't know what others did but I ordered mine through apple's online store instead of verizon. I'm hoping I can get it a day or two early.
 
According to several people on Twitter who were trying to order shortly after 3am, they were getting site crash screens (Verizon)

People meaning Boy Genius Report, Techno Buffalo, etc
 
Okay just called Verizon and they said they just now charged my card about 3 minutes ago:). They said my order has changed to shipped!!!:eek: Of course I'm sure it will be next week before I get it but I'm happy it finally charged my account. I was getting worried! The rep said I will get an email soon.
 
I placed my order around 7pm EST (about 30 min before they stopped taking orders) and I still haven't received a confirmation email. Its now almost 11:55pm.

I have the conf # that was supplied to me on the splash screen after placing the order, and I just checked my bank and a hold was authorized by VZW but no funds taken out yet.

When I check online all it says is we have received your order and it is in process. Still no email.

I called VZW and the rep I got was a lost cause. Not even sure he knew the iPhone was being released today. He said there is a human element involved and he still has no indication that an order was placed on my account.

I know we're all being a little anal, but we've all waited a long time and its a little frustrating.
 
I spoke with a VZW operator yesterday (2/2/11) and she stated that there would only be a credit check if you added a new line. Also, I'm pretty sure you're right that, had you entered the wrong CC number, it would have been denied immediately. I've done that on Amazon and it has come back with an error once I submitted the order.

Thank you for your reply, but when I typed "a hold by VZW" I meant to say the funds were authorized but not taken out. I believe they only do that to make sure the funds are available at the time of the order.

I actually take that as good news, since the order seems to have went through. The holdup shouldn't have anything to do with funding. I'm just concerned I haven't received a confirmation email 4 hours later.
