My iphone 13 mini tried to catch fire on me, no joke. Went to apple and they took it from me and gave me a 64GB XR as a loner, not happy about it. So I'm trying to get my contacts to sync over and I have previous saves but can't seem to load them. Maybe because it's only 64GB. It's pretty frustrating. I'm logged into my icloud account and it shows 67 contacts. When I look at other linked accounts I see my gmail showing it's linked. So what am I doing wrong?

No contacts syncing. What am I doing wrong here?

my icloud backup of my 13mini is like 4gb and I can click on it being saved but can't seem to find how to force the phone to load it.
During the initial setup, you connect to your iCloud account and tell it to restore from an iCloud backup. It may be due to the iOS version; is it giving you any errors or messages?
I'm surprised Apple didn't walk you through this.
He told me at the store to NOT do that because the size of the phone was only 64GB but my thing is I really just want/need my contacts for business reasons. I can do without the rest for a bit
Are the contacts in gmail or icloud? You can sign into your account and sync your contacts from those sources.
I would not have walked away if they were critical needs. I would have had them do that for you.
Well it took three attempts and finally managed to get what I needed. My issue now is I have 853 gmail contacts and 70 icloud. They were all saved in the backup. How would I go about merging all my gmail contacts into my icloud?
I thought it was one of those things that you get home and get on wifi and after an hour or so it'd do it. Most are in gmail. I'd like to merge those to be saved into my icloud contacts as well.
