I use the Define feature pretty often but on my new rmini it was not unfunctional until I downloaded one from the manage option. The one labeled apple dictionary seems to be empty so I downloaded the new oxford one. Does iOS 7 require dictionaries to be manually downloaded now? I don't think I had to do this on my iPhone 5 when I upgraded to iOS7.

iOS 7 messed up the dictionaries. It seems as if the OS can't keep them active. You'll have to activate it yourself. Over and over if you manually close the apps. Very unintelligent.

It worked just fine on iOS 6...

For me, it was more a matter of loading the dictionaries once per each app that accesses them. In other words, yes, I had to load the ones I wanted more than once, but only once per app.
