Is there really no easier way on the iPhone and iPad to delete the large attachments from texts, than having to select each one at a time and go through pages and pages of items manually one at a time when going into General/Storage/Review Large Attachments

In 2022, and 15 ios generations later, really? No SELECT ALL and just delete? lol

Doing it that way still has you manually selecting each item, Ive done it this way as well. I was more wondering why Apple does not have a SELECT ALL feature when trying to remove pics/attachments
So you don't want a select all, you want a select all just for pics/attachements. That's not a select all, that's a select for my very specific own use case.

I have hated this for years. You cannot even swipe to select them all! That’s even inconsistent with the Photo app, which does provide a select ALL button as well

Every month I have to spent like an hour to remove photo / video attachments from iMessage on my iPhone and iPad by selecting them all one by one in an endless list instead of simply providing a select / delete all button. Almost reason enough to go back to WhatsApp full time.

No, this is what he's talking about, for example:

1. open up a conversation in Messages that contains photos (either photos you've sent or received)
2. click on the person's name at the top
3. scroll down to "Photos" and tap on "See All"
4. tap on "Select" at the top right

Now notice that there is no "select all" option nor is there a way to tap and drag to select multiple files (like you can when selecting photos in the Photos app), you have to tap on every single photo one at a time. Definitely a poor/inconsistent design. Same problem with documents, videos, etc.

I agree that would be great. Also, I'd like to be able to delete a months data from the Health app without having to do one at a time. Deleting data is not an Apple strength. I understand you need to be careful not to make it too easy but too hard isn't good either

And even then it doesn’t always work correctly. Sometimes I delete a bunch of photos and when I open the same conversation again, some of the photos I just deleted are still there or suddenly a photo, that wasn’t even there in the first place, re-appears

I use the "auto delete old conversations" in iPhone storage - automatically removes all messages and attachments that were sent or received over 1 year ago.
I wish there were more options here. I'd love to delete everything after 3 years, but 1 year is the max.

Not when you are in that section that is dedicated to showing you only attachments in messages and it displays them individually

No, Actually I am talking about the dedicated area for this, at General, iPhone Storage, Large Attachments (Or click Messages) :)

Same principle. I was trying to get him to understand the issue with not being able to select all, regardless of which method you use to get to the attachments in question.

Still waiting for the ability to delete all thread attachments without leaving the thread. At least the option to select all when manually doing so. Also, I wonder why you can’t filter attachments by videos?

May I suggest sending Apple feedback about this feature request:
