None of my emails or text messages are showing up in the Notification Center. Otherwise, Mountain Lion is pretty nice.

    Anyone else with this problem?

Mail: The app is open. I have a unified inbox with two accounts. Could that be the problem?

Messages: Seems to work if the sender uses my email address, but doesn't work if they use my phone number, even if both are listed in my contact on their phone. Sup?

I noticed it only works if the email is from someone else. Test messages you send to yourself don't seem to trigger a Notification.

Well check that out - it works. And what about Messages? Wife is texting me, goes to my phone but still not showing up on my MacBook in Notification Center.

Mine are working. I noticed you won't receive notifications if the app is open. Try to minimize Messages and try again.

Yes, with Messages totally closed, it will throw up the notifications for me. But if Mail is closed and not running, you won't see any notifications. If you have Mail running, but just in the background (where you can still see the Mail application window, then again, you won't see any notifications. I only saw mail notifications if it was running AND hidden/minimized.

They seem to be a little inconsistent. I'd rather not have Mail running at all, and just give me a pop-up like I get with Messages.

I've got mail working, but Messages (iMessages) still doesn't show up in Notification Center. When I open the app, I see the conversation. Just nothing in the Notification Center.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but it is related. What about twitter notifications? I setup my twitter account but I'm getting nothing.

So then what is the point of notifications, if you need to have the app constantly open? Wouldn't growl or if you have gmail, gmail notifier be a better option?

Same here. Does Twitter app have to be running to be able to receive notifications? What's the point of system-built Twitter integration then?

I'm starting to think Twitter integration is just for all the Share buttons everywhere (and also for the Tweet capability in the notification fly out). If you want to watch your feed, you use the twitter app or safari. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Well, no.. Twitter is supposed to work in Notification Center - it shows up as one of the apps in Notification Center preferences.. And some people reported it working for them, albeit clicking on notification links to the website rather than an app. I haven't been able to get any Twitter Notifications so far.

Twitter is working fine for me. Check you have the boxes checked in the Notification Center preference pane for it to show Mentions/Direct Messages.

Just figured out what's going on.. You need to be following the Twitter account that mentions you, in order for the tweet to show up in Notification Center. If you are mentioned by someone you are not following - no notification.

I suppose this makes some sense, but I would prefer to get notifications for any mentions.

Notifications don't work if the message is from one of your own accounts. You also need to have the Mail app running.

That explains that. Tested from an account not set up in Mail and works fine.

    Thanks!

No notifications here even when it's from a different receiver and mail is running. I just get a red badge. Happens in 10.9.

Well, it turns out i googled it and figured it out. If you have multiple accounts you need to select "new message notifications" in general>preferences and then hit all mailboxes.

Turns out i don't need to do that in ML. Well, at least it's working today but i need to hit that preferences button in mavericks. sounds like a bug.
