No emoji suggestions in Messages with iOS 26.5

Hey all, this is not a super crucial problem but it is one I would like to solve nonetheless. I can’t recall exactly when this happened but it was likely after I updated to 26.5 on my iPhone 17 Pro. When I would text somebody, certain words would bring up emojis in the text replacement section of the keyboard. For example, I could type car in the message and an emoji of a car would appear at the top of the keyboard. I would just tap it to insert it.

Recently, I just noticed this has stopped happening. There are no emojis shown in the text replacement section of the keyboard. I have deleted the emoji keyboard and re-enabled it. I have changed keyboards. Restarted the phone. Turned predictive text on and off. But nothing is bringing the emoji suggestions back to the top of the keyboard. I don’t know if this is a bug in 26.5 or if I’m just doing something incorrectly.

As I said, this is not a super crucial issue but it’s something I would like to try to fix. So any and all suggestions appreciated. TIA.

Having the same problem this week suddenly with the update. I have reset the keyboard, removed and readded the emoji keyboard, turned off and on predictive text, and restarted my phone. Anything to try to fix it doesn’t do anything so perhaps if it’s a wide enough issue we may get a 26.5.1 soon.

I got it fixed and sorry I didn't post it. How I fixed it was to create a text to myself. Use the emoji keyboard, if you see it, and add a lot of emojis (2-3 rows of them) and send it. After you receive the text back, repeat the process 2-3 times. As I said it fixed it for me.

Wow, good find on this fix. I guess it's maybe looking to initialize usage of emojis in order to predict you using them perhaps, that or just a weird bug. Thanks!
