I just recently upgraded my hard drive to a 1TB Samsung Spinpoint (last Wednesday). Up until last night, I had no issues with the hard drive. I woke up this morning to a spinning pinwheel.

I rebooted this AM to the “No Entry” sign.

I’ve never seen this screen before. What does it mean? How can I go about fixing this?

Luckily, I still have my old hard drive.

I almost didn't open this thread since it had a response. You really should give people more time to respond. Asking "anyone" doesn't actually help.

Really, it just means that it tried to boot but failed very quickly. The nature of the condition sounds like the new drive may have gone bad, but there are other possibilities.

At this point, I still maintain that a 1TB laptop drive is going to fail pretty quickly.
