no it doesn't say last bill. it says that the plan was removed from the account but the account still exists. Basically what is going on is the account is still active but the plan and number are no longer in the AT&T side of their system. if i were to port the number back into AT&T it would be like i never left. The loophole is that you are still in their system on their network. so if i went back to AT&T in 2 years it should show as my contract was fulfilled.

Bingo. :D Nice to see other verification from another user that this trick still works. By the way, I finally have a *very* limited supply of brand new Straight Talk AT&T NanoSIM swap kits in case anyone wants to try it out for themselves.

What apn do you use

"att phone"

seems to be the new standard for straight talk data apn. Tracfone is saying to use "tfdata" but I find it's kind of hit or miss. att.mvno still works for people that it already works for. By the way, it seems that the VPN trick no longer works for people using "att phone" or "tfdata" as their data APN setting. Since they made the switch with new activations to different data APNs, I haven't been able to get a VPN to connect. People fortunate enough to still be able to connect using "att.mvno" it works perfectly fine.

Cool..do you reckon this will work with an e71 sim or its gotta be st byop AT&T sim?

I've heard it does work with an e71 SIM but I've never tested out this trick with that method. Since this bug is so specific to the AT&T BYOP SIM, I would err on the side of caution.

FYI the VPN trick is mainly to hide if you are streaming anything such as music or video, which is in their TOS that you cannot do, which is another reason I went with go phone who has no restrictions. Even with a VPN you can still be shut off for using excess data.

Also correct. I find the "shutoff" time is around 10-12GB. Although there really isn't any magical number. Just one day it will stop working. They're back to reconnecting it when the next billing month starts, but you can no longer buy the next 30 days of service and instantly reconnect it again. The only thing you can do to instantly reconnect data service (at full speed too) is to somehow get another brand new AT&T Straight Talk SIM and port your number from the cut-off SIM card to your new one. Then, poof! All better, and using the remainder of your current $45 month. Of course, this isn't a great option with the scarcity of new Straight Talk AT&T SIMs, but it does work!

Can I ak another question to OP? Did you pay the 1sf month att bill of $170? and then port out? Or did you port out before paying 1st month att bill?

Any idea if porting out from ATT to Net10 also works? Net10 sim cards are readily available for 15 bucks locally. Net10 is still considered under the same Tracfone company but dont know if the same would apply.

Anyone tried this before?

ST att sim card is back in stock

ST att sim card is back in stock

Would this trick still work after they took it down two months ago?

does it still work?

Looking to do this trick as well. Can you PM me the VPN? Thanks

i am planning to switch to Straight talk from ATT (still under contract) and want to know if i port my number to Straight Talk ATT SIM, this ETF loophole still works?

Were you successful in doing so?

I also would like to know what VPN service you use. And you said it is truly unlimited data with it so I won't get throttled or even worse shut off with Straight Talk..

I'm sorry but I HATE Straight Talk service. I went t through three phones within a year with HORRIBLE customer service from Philippine. I ended up throwing away everything and bought me brand new phone and service from Walmart TMobile family plan. Are they good? Not too bad.... not great either. but still no contract and cheap $40 / mo. Anyway....

Anyone know if this works still? Straight talk is now carrying the AT&T SIM's again and I would like to buy the AT&T iPhone on contract and switch over to ST by porting the number to save on monthly bill...let me know thanks

This is precisely why this porting trick works, on their end the number is active on their system. Why would they send you a $325 cancellation bill when the number is active on their system?

I have a question, since the number is still active on AT&T system, don't they charge you monthly bill? I mean AT&T..so you have to pay both straight talk and AT&T?
