So, if there were to be new macbooks/pros to be released next tuesday, shouldn't
have sent out invitations for the event? (i mean a design change is a pretty big deal---more so than ipods)!

I don't remember an Apple event for which the invitations did not get posted on rumor sites at least a week before the event.it was said somewhere that apple would send out invites 3-4 days before. I think 9to5 posted that.

Why does it need an event? The vast majority of Apple's computer updates are silent.
I could be wrong, but I don't think there was an event when the iBook transitioned to MacBook, right?

There was an event for that, but it focused more on new software than it did on the iMac. It might have been a five minute presentation about the new design, the rest was about iMovie and Numbers.dont think there was an event for the transitions to the Aluminum iMacs either.
Funny how all those blogs/sites change their guesses/predictions everytime they are wrong. One day they will get it right especially if they choose everyday as a prediction. You are better off calling a psychic hotline for the release date.
yeah i dont think there was an event for the transitions to the Aluminum iMacs either.
