No gmail contact GROUPS showing?

Through the web interface, I see all my contact groups in gmail.

However, on my iphone 6s, when I launch "contacts", when I press "groups" at the top left, I have a choice (under gmail) of "all gmail or global address list. Presently "all gmail" is selected.

I think this pertains to my question about Do-No-Disturb and my desire to permit calls from groups of contacts. If I don't see groups of contact, I can't tell DND to permit it.

Is this a gmail issue?

It only syncs My Contacts from Google contacts, not the other groups. Google limitation.
