I used to own iLife, but after performing a clean install of ML, I no longer have it. Anyone know if I can get it for free elsewhere? Or do I have to buy it from the Mac App Store now? :s

If you already bought it in the app store, then you can download it free, if your Mac came with os x 10.6.x or earlier, just put Install disc on in your computer, but it might not be the same version

That's the weird thing, when I got my Mac, it came with Snow Leopard (and I can't if it was at that point or after I installed Lion, that I got all the iLife apps), but I never bought them in the app store/had them on a CD. And I didn't download it elsewhere... it was just there.

Oh well, I'll just buy them.

Try to contact Apple first, I really do think you would have a good argument to get the software for free again.

What kind of Mac do you have? Is it an Air by chance? The 2010 Air came with a tiny USB key with OS X and iLife on it.

Nope, MacBook Pro! I think it was an early 2011 one... not sure though.
But it didn't come with a USB key or anything :p

    ----------

Yeah, I guess so. But eh, too much hassle, I can't be bothered.
    It's not that expensive anyway.

But yeah, thanks for the help! :)

I have an early 2011 MBP and iLife was on install disks. You probably have them somewhere...

A friend of mine had lost his disks and wanted iLife back after a clean install of ML. He called Apple and they agreed to ship him the iLife CD.

That's what happened to me, at least.

And idk, my Mac didn't come with any iLife disk or anything like that...
And it was a brand new Mac, not used or anything, and it had iLife apps installed on it already.

Look again. It should've also came with an 'OS X Install Disk' and an 'Applications Install Disk' - which will contain all of the iLife applications and iWeb & iDVD, etc...

It doesn't really matter anymore, tbh.
I got the box out anyway, and there's nothing there. I would have remembered if it had come with it, anyway...

There is indeed a CD in the box for the Early 2011 MBP. I should know, I own one. Inside the box is a black envelope-type thing. In that should be a white box labeled "Everything Else." In the white box should be 2 DVDs, one labeled "Mac OSX Install DVD" and the other labeled "Applications Install DVD." The second one has iLife on it.
