I installed iOS 11 on my iPhone 6 today at work. And I also had it plugged in and on Wi-Fi for hours after that. But Siri doesn’t sound any different at all. It doesn’t sound at all like the examples I have heard on the Internet of the new iOS 11 natural voice. Is this just a feature that didn’t manage to make it into the iPhone 6?

I noticed the same thing. If you go into settings and choose an accent, the snippet they play for you is totally different than what Siri actually sounds like. It sounds just like it did previously. I’m on iPhone 7 and iPad Pro, same thing.
[doublepost=1505870439][/doublepost]Strangely, if you select the male voice, it does sound more natural. But if you go back to female voice it sounds the same as before. Seems like a bug.

I have the old voice on two of my devices updated today. A reboot didn’t fix it.

I have the same problem as well. I’m currently ‘downloading’ the male voice to see if that does the trick, but it’s going to take nearly 30min to download (over WiFi).

Not sure what’s going on...

EDIT: American male voice finished downloading, but still the old (ie former) voice.

I’ve tried restarting as well. No luck.

working here. try switching voices, rebooting. then try switching back to the voice you want...

OP here. Mine (iPhone 6) fixed itself only after full overnight on the charger and WiFi. The hour or so I had it charge at dinner (also on WiFi) wasn’t enough I guess but as of this morning the female Siri voice has completely changed to the new!

Same exact experience here. My iphone was connected to WiFi and power intermittently all day yesterday with no luck, but after being connected to power and WiFi all night without use I’m hearing the new voice today.

Threads like this come up every time there is a change to Siri's voice. The old voice will remain until you leave your device plugged in and connected to WiFi for a period of time so it can be downloaded. It does not come with iOS to keep the size down, rather, it's downloaded after you've upgraded already.

You can actually force the download by going in and selecting an accent. Even after the device claims it is downloaded, I still am left with the old voice on my iPad. I have not tried plugging it in to wall power overnight though. So maybe there is something to this despite it seemingly confirming that my voice is downloaded.

I think this is correct. I also manually downloading a voice, but still had to wait overnight before that voice was actually used.
