Nobody has these crazy cases covering the outside of their laptops, why does everyone insist they need them for the iPad?!?!?!?

In addition to the aspect of protecting both the front glass and the back aluminum (which I care less about, though it's nice to see that it's still in such good shape when I pull it out of my case), there is also the aspect of being at least somewhat covert. I often carry my iPad around tucked under my arm. It would be a little too easy a target if it was so easily recognizable. By having it in a folio type case, it blends in a bit, making it less of a target for a would-be thief who happens to be walking by.

Also, I've been looking at the cases that have been announced, too. I'm thinking seriously about the BooqPad case. The one major downside I see with this case is the lack of a hole for the back camera. But for me, the business card pockets and the "ticket" pocket would be exceptionally useful. I'd probably get rid of the pad and just use the top/bottom pocket to keep some additional stuff.

If there were a folio case that had pockets like these and a hole for the rear facing camera, I'd be sold on that so fast...

Hi Folks,
Great thread! I think it's fantastic to list the various FULL case options instead of that smart cover. ick.

My wife uses her iPad for work and the apple case for version 1 was fantastic. of course, ipad2 won't fit in it.

This one looks professional, probably not cheap, but looks well done (very similar to the scosche case) :

It is a shame that so many cases are plain black and I wish there were more non-leather options. For now, the smart case and booq sleeve are working for me though.

They had the Targus case at Best Buy in Texas yesterday. I didn't like the way the iPad fit into the clips so I went with the Griffin case - kind of like Apple's iPad 1 case!

There will be plenty of options for iPad 2 cases when the time comes. That shouldn't be part of anyone's worries.

I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want a real case for their iPad, especially if they carry it around. The new cases from Apple are "cool" but don't do much in the protection department. I'm a big fan of selling my iPhone etc.. for more than I paid every year, without a case this wouldn't be possible (scratches etc..).

Best buy had a leather version of the original iPad case for iPad 2 at launch. I thought it was targus but can't find a link now...anyone?

That's the Griffin slim folio case- but it's not leather. It's ok for a temporary case, but I'm still looking for a slim real leather iPad 2 case.

I will be getting my ghost armor tom and will review it here. Clear protective cover for the back and front. I use it on my car radio and 1st gen Ipad. Best I have ever used. PLan on not using a case on the back if anything like Ipad 1 covering. The Ipad case with AUTO On is worth the hassle IMO. Never liked sliding to open all the time. I hope 3rd parties will incorp to there cases

I'm torn between this one and the speck pixelskin... Ill probably go with whichever one is easier to put on and off.
