Horror story:
I went with a friend to buy a new iPhone 3gs from the AT$T store. We were told we could activate "Find My iPhone" ourselves, or sign up for $5 extra per month for an equivalent "Mobile Locate App" from AT&T http://mobileprotectionpack.att.com/mobile-locate.html .
Later, we tried to activate the "Find My iPhone" feature using Apple's instructions, only to read online that it required an iPhone 4, and earlier models were not supported. We everything anyway including even entering in an existing AppleID, but it was rejected every time on the iPhone 3gs.
In desperation, we went back to AT&T who gladly started to set up her iPhone 3gs for their "Mobile Locate App". That's when both the AT&T rep and ourselves were shocked to learn that AT&T does NOT support the iPhone....any iPhone. They support five other phones running android, symbian, etc. but no iOS!!!
Can you believe that? Both Apple and AT&T are selling the 3gs with no way to find, track, or wipe a stolen phone. Why is this not advertised?
