I installed office 08 sp1 right. and everything is coo. All of a sudden my macbook starts gettin all hot. So i shutdown and turned it back on and now its burning up to 6196rpm and 73 and the cpu is almost being fully used. HELPPPP

Service Pack 1. I installed it on a Macbook Pro and all was well. Can you look at Activity Monitor to see which process is taking up the CPU?

downgrade and only update the office 08 suite if you need to get that patch

solved it. It was like mds or sumthin, just force quit it. Its alll good now.

The next time you see that mds... file running, you should leave it. That's Spotlight, indexing your system.

Was the SP1 large? Probably, meaning that Spotlight had a lot of work to do.

I had the same problem after installing sp1, rebooted, still the same. Turned it off and left it for an hour, so far seems ok.

Yeah its Entourage re-indexing. It was a big update 400+mb some were reporting 500+mb

Yeah, when I was installing SP1 my fans were blazing for a good 30min, once it was finished it was all good 🙂

yeah i got worried quick but mds is fine now only like 3.6 % stuff like that.
