Why would you like to "convert" your friends?
If they are happy, with, what they have, why should they change?

Word.
Reminds me a bit of those religious fanatics that'll try every trick in the book to convert you to their religion even though you're perfectly happy, because they believe you'll be even happier if you do. Maybe that'd be true, maybe not, but I believe in letting a person make his or her own decisions. If they ask my advice, I'll give them my opinion, and that's where it ends.

@OP: If it's any consolation, none of my friends are even only in the remotest bit techy at all, and neither are they interested.

in all seriousness most of my friends are not techy either...at LEAST (and thank GOD) most of them are football fans, that is my first passion, then gadgets and computers and whatnot....oh yeah wife and kids too

GO BRONCOS .... and GO APPLE!!!!

On a side note, I am only friends with people who use Wilson vollyballs....
I can't believe it took them so long to make them.

Well, then, you sir (or insert gender address of your choice here) need your head examined. Tachikara is the only volleyball maker with style. It never gets viruses and is completely immune to trojan horse attacks.

Yeah but will it keep you company when you are castaway on a deserted island? ;)

Dude! if I had a family they'd be my everything, and definitely my first passion! :)

I've been using Apple Computers for a decade and still can't get my family and friends to give it a try, regardless of how many computers crash and burn on them. Would be nice to talk a little tech with those folks every now and again... Share tips and tricks, you know, just BS about it. It's like being a football fan and none of those closest to you care to watch it with you. Sucks sometimes, but no biggie. Just click on Forum Spy and somebody will undoubtedly start speaking your language.:)

None of my friends have Macs and some could afford them, we razz each other about it. It's just one other thing to have in common but certainly nothing to base a friendship on.

I don't have a friend who shares every single interest that I do, that would be cool but it's unrealistic.

At least I converted my wife & son to Macs, Mom & Dad are next :)

Your not alone I know the feeling!

Where I work everyone gets litterally pissed off when they see my mac on my desk. Why? Who knows. They ask why I have a mac, I tell them for my uses its much more efficient then windows and they get even more mad and tell me I'm wrong and windows is the best and I ignore them. (These are people who have never used anything but windows, not even a linux distro so to say they are uneducated as to what other OS's offer is an understatement).

My friends too do not have macs, just me. They like mine when they use it but hear from "other people" that macs are terrible and not compatible with anything. Then I laugh inside when I have to go over and install a printer or scanner or whatever for them, knowing I could have just plugged it into my mac w/o drivers and it would still work. Whatever though.

Your not alone!

alot of my mates dont like apple, let alone mac osx. I guess somehow they think that the OS is rubbish, cos the company is a bit paranoid, i dunno..

On the other hand, my coursemates all use macs of some variation.

Im on a music tech course so Macs are in great population around and about as well.. most particularly Mac Pros!! mmmmhmh.

Gotta love the look of em things! anyways.

Macrumors is doing a good job at providing me with entertainment for me n my macs :)

Interesting posts! - I came to the MacRumors Forums because the one mac friend of mine died a couple of months ago (they found him at his mac). He was like a mac-guru and veritable font of mac info to begin with, but after he died I realized that he was really the only friend of mine who uses macs or who knew anything about a mac at all! Reading the forum posts is very like some of our conversations (he lived in a different city) so I think this is a good place to form new mac-centric friendships or macquaintances to supplement real time friendships.

If they are happy, with, what they have, why should they change? Especially, if the don't have the money...

Who says they are happy with what they have? Who says they don't have money?

Some people have no sense of humor and are so defensive...
