Apple's new Liquid Glass interface introduced across iOS 26, macOS Tahoe, and its other latest software platforms is apparently here to stay.

In his Power On newsletter today, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said the latest internal versions of iOS 27 and macOS 27 do not have major Liquid Glass design changes. He also mentioned how Apple's new software design chief, Steve Lemay, was "a driving force" behind Liquid Glass and was "deeply involved in its development."

Lemay joined Apple in 1999. He succeeded Alan Dye, who left Apple for Meta at the end of last year. Under his leadership, it is likely that Apple will focus on gradually improving Liquid Glass. This would be similar to Apple's approach with iOS 7, which did away with skeuomorphism in favor of a flat design and was then refined over the years.

Apple already provided iPhone users with a few Liquid Glass customization options through software updates. iOS 26.1 added a "Tinted" option that increases the opacity of Liquid Glass elements across the system, and iOS 26.2 introduced a slider that allows you to adjust the opacity of Liquid Glass for the Lock Screen's clock.

Apple was initially working on a system-wide Liquid Glass slider for iOS 26, but it ran into engineering challenges when trying to extend it across the entire system, according to Gurman. However, he said Apple could go back to the drawing board and manage to get the system-wide slider working in an iOS 27 version.

I love Liquid Glass feature. It makes my iPhone contents are so cinematically beautiful. So, glad that it will stay. Hopefully, forever. ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍

They could start the fixes by eliminating black print on black backgrounds in dark mode - and that still appears as light gray on a white background when dark mode is off. But not all of the time. Ugh.

Tim only cares about 1 thing money. So all you stop buying new apple hardware and go to the dark side google, if enough people move away from apple, some one will finally ask why and it will be liquid ass and bugs and maybe just maybe they will think about appointing a committee to fix it in 5 years. Apple just does not care about customer sat score any more, and thats sad but your just a revenue source for them now.

Just got a new M5 MBA. Can live with LG. Cannot live with the bugs. Worst example. Default Weather Widget is auto-setup for the Desktop on a clean install. Had 3 locations previously setup for forecasts which got loaded via Migration Asst. When two non-USA locations are setup to show in the widget the useful full-day forecast is shown. When the widget is set to show our local location we only get the 60 minute precipitation forecast. Cannot be changed. Found a thread on Apple Support where another user described this problem exactly. Apple mod closed it. So just got rid of the Weather Widget on the Desktop (Menu bar shows daily forecast just fine). If anyone knows how to fix this, please advise. Thx, NSC
