No Man's Sky for Consoles

Omni tool are easily available from vykreen aliens in their space huts. I have a nice updated one with 16 slots currently and I haven't played for too long (5 hours tops).

What I don't really understand about the game is a genuine lack of explanation of the mechanics of the game. Even when you choose to go along with Atlas at the beginning there is still just so much vagueness to everything. Whilst the discovery of the advanced mechanics can certainly be argued is a core gameplay element, you do need more hand holding or guidance at the beginning as you can spend hours not getting any of the basics down ...

Found a crashed spaceship too, but it actually had fewer inventory slots than my current one.
I found one too, and yeah, it was smaller then what I already had. I'm now looking to see how much it will cost me to get a new ship (reviewers have stated they got larger ships), and where I can find the. I'll probably be googling that.

I was able to get a good Omni tool from the vykreen, and I'm happy with it. I've spent some time and fair bit of money to upgrade my exosuit, though the costs to upgrade is now at 50,000 units which is pricey.

Lack of information and guideness is definitely a short coming, it seems the authors of the game took the open ended play to the next level and didn't even provide any info on the basics of game play and/or a bit of direction to get you going (other then first steps to get a hyperdrive)

When you park your ship in a space station, you will see other ships parked around you in the "garage" when you return from the trading room. You can buy those ships right there from their pilots. They are usually very expensive though.

Awesome, I didn't know that.

I have 200,000 units stored up and I'm near a planet with a lot of gold, so I can do a fair amount of resource farming. I'll have to check that out later.

If I remember correctly, the ships will run you a couple million units, give or take. ;)

^Ships are expensive, I brought a ship for 1.8 million and change and I regret doing it because as soon as I did that I found the exact same crashed ship I brought with the exact same amount of slots...only if I waited. Upgrading your exo suit is unbelievably expensive, I have 24 slots now and to get another will run me about 210,000.

I can definitely see why some people are upset with it because its definitely flawed and some basic stuff needs to be fixed...especially the annoying glitch that causes my ship to launch into space after I lift off from the ground...WTF

I really hope they give your gear/ships gear their own section in your inventory and also allow mods to not take up space but give them a mod space on the gear itself because the mods take up the majority of your inventory...thats horrible in my opinion.

Bless

Did my first hyper jump to a new system last night. Revisited my favorite planet "Pinky" (it has pink grass and foliage) before I left and took some screenshots. How can I share my screenshots outside of the PSN universe? I only found the options Facebook and Twitter, neither of which I really use. Can't PS4 share via Instagram yet?

That was getting me all last night. I was farming for gold, to build up my cash and every time I lifted off to get to another location I found myself in orbit.

With that said, I finally bought a larger ship. Not as "sexy" as my pre-order alpha class ship, but I have more inventory and the ship had better armament and shielding.

I have to say the ship that I bought which resembles a large slug, is nice and I finally can hold my own in space battles. The upgraded armament has been a godsend.

I finally started this on PS4 last night around 7PM. I snapped out of it around 12:30AM realizing:
1. I have to get up at 0600 to run, and subsequently work.
2. I am still on the starting planet.
3. This is what happens when my fiance goes of out town.

I LOVE the music. Very prog-like and perfect for the game. The visuals are vibrant. I can see why some people won't like this, but what kept me going was the prospect of "what's over that next horizon" or "ooh another Monolith" -- it seems like one of those games that I would be happy with playing here and there at a relaxing pace.

Funny you say that, because I'm thinking the same thing.

I spent a couple of days in one solar system even though the atlas quest wants me to go to another system. I'm content to keep poking around.

There are some planets that are environmentally more hostile then others, where your exosuit protection seems to draw down quickly. I usually leave those planets fairly quickly, but others that allow for a more leisurely pace - I don't mind poking around.

That was basically my experience the last two nights in a row.

So as someone who has played the game like yourself and appears your enjoying it, what are favorite things about it? Is it as glitchy as others say? Any negatives or drawbacks? Feel free to tell me you anything you want. I like reading user feedback.

I like to consider myself a more mature gamer and I don't need the latest Call Of Duty to entertain my needs. I was on the fence with this game, but now I plan on purchasing.

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm playing on PS4, and as I understand it, the PC version is currently a wreck. I haven't come across any bugs/glitches yet. There is hardly any hand holding in the game. I think the controls are poor, but maybe I just need to play more to let it sink in.

This is definitely a slower-paced game. It's all about the atmosphere (no pun intended), exploring, and crafting. If you're looking for action, this is NOT the game for you. I haven't even fought anything except for some sentinel drones, and that was because I was breaking into a colony outpost. As far as I'm aware, there is no in-game map. You get objectives and waypoints, but you will most certainly never beeline to them, because you'll come across all sorts of weird things you just want to "check out for one quick second." Next thing you know, you're 15 minutes away from your ship...

I really dig the art style. It's very vibrant. Keep in mind I am still on the first planet I start out on, because I'm just taking my time. My planet looks like it's from a Dr. Seuss story. I'm exploring plants, animals, and structures.

The music, in my opinion, is excellent, and perfectly suited. It's very prog-space-rock-style. I thought my special edition came with the soundtrack, which is something I would have listened to, but I must be mistaken.

Currently, I'm working on learning the Kovox language so I can interact with them better, and working on upgrading my exosuit, ship, and multitool. The multitool is used to gather resources (think: Minecraft). There are weapons, and the weapons can even be used to break up the planet if you get stuck somewhere like underground. With the special edition I believe I received a better ship with a hyperdrive, but I have not redeemed that yet because as I understand it, if you leave the first planet without learning how to make a hyperdrive, you could get screwed later on. They announced a big patch coming very soon -- guessing that addresses that because some people are currently stranded like Matt Damon.

My interaction with life forms has been limited. While I do approach any intelligent life forms to see what I can learn or trade, in terms of animals, all I've done is fed a few some iron here and there. None of them have attacked me yet. I'm working on the Kovox faction, for what it's worth. I believe there are 3 languages to learn?

You'll uncover monliths that you can learn from, some stones that will teach you single words, technology to discover, outposts to name, and more. I think the scope is much narrower than everyone believed initially, but it's not a bad game at all. I think you just have to accept it for what it is -- a game about exploration and crafting.

I have a PS4, which is good, being the PC version is broken. I think I will definitely pick this game up. There is something about open world games I appreciate, without linear paths.

I really appreciate your feedback and look forward to trying this. Feel free keep us posted on your travels throughout the game. Thanks again.

Finally started making some headway in the game, and just found the planet with the antimatter plans. Spent a few hours mining resources, despite the atmosphere chewing through my life support systems at an alarming rate. Thankfully plutonium was in abundance and one inventory slot is enough to recharge everything more than once.

The sentinels are annoying as heck, but easily destroyed. Even one of the advanced ones on four legs wasn't too much of an issue.

I'm hoping there will be bigger animals as the game progresses, so far on my starting planet there were a few small ones here and there.

I think I found a bug and/or design slip up. I found a Vortex Cube in a cave, after some googling to see if its a useful product, I found that its only use is that its rare and give you a nice boost of money. The problem is they're not rare, in fact many people found hundreds of them in the caves of any given planet. I'm on such a planet. Even though I just upgraded my ship, I'm working on raising some serious amounts of money.

If I fill up my exosuit and ship (about 27 units), I pull in about 700,000 units. The downside is I have to find a cave entrance wonder around to collect them and find an exit - some caves seem to go on forever. I'll probably play more of this tonight. My goal is to procure a large 4million dollar ship (maybe even larger) I'm halfway there and I only need a few more trips to make up the next 2 million dollars.

I have a PS4, which is good
Yes, same here. There's a couple minor bugs (like lifting off a planet shoots you straight into space sometimes) but no major issues.

I found out the majority of time, if you ignore them, they'll ignore you. I only found two instances where they harress you.
1. Abandoned manufacturing type buildings where you need to blast the door open. Once you solve the puzzle/question they become peaceful towards you.
2. Hostile planets. I came to a planet where the report summary read that the sentients were hostile and everywhere I turned the sentinels shot at me.

This trailer for No Man's Sky is what attracted me to the game. It's awesome.

I found it bad that Sony had to monopolize this game for themselves, and also the PC version is such a wreck.

I'll have to wait until they fix the PC version (if they really do for people like me with weak CPU's and strong GPU's) or when I get a PS4 again.

Looks like a NEO patch is in order for a game like this:

"PS4 Neo could “fundamentally change” the No Man’s Sky experience"

https://www.vg247.com/2016/08/10/ps4-neo-could-fundamentally-change-the-no-mans-sky-experience/

The game I'm liking, EVERSPACE, is due for an XBox physical release late 2017, around the time of XBox Scorpio, and when I ask about it on their forums, there's no answer... ;)

I've hyper warped to several Atlas stations now and typically visit all the planets in a system, spending more time at the nicer planets than the harsh one. I've yet to get the recipe for an Atlas Pass yet, these Atlas Stones are filling my inventory slots up. I just don't get it.

Like any Space Game, you need a bigger ship... ;)
