Read this earlier today. It stated that all apple music purchase downloads would stop next year.
Guess if it is true they want everyone to use the streaming service.....

The report explains that the move to phase out music downloads has been in place since 2016, but in a statement to 9to5Mac, Apple denies the report and simply says “it’s not true” ...

... This report should be taken with a massive grain of salt, especially considering Apple’s continued denials.

That is what is written. Guess more people are using streaming and also guessing it drives business $$ for streaming vs. Someone who may buy an album every couple months and could be using a free radio service.

I'm just sticking to Spotify Premium so this doesn't matter too much to me, but why are they doing it?

Apple is usually the first to brag about monetizing something by cannibalizing something else of theirs. The fact they deny this repeatedly should be enough for people to realize its BS
