I think we’ve reached maximum capacity with the buttons. 5 separate buttons, at least for me is absolute maximum. You can barely hold this phone without resting on one of the buttons, specifically the camera button. There has to be a differentiator, I get it. But at what expense? We will see, but I think I’m done with this yearly upgrade train I’ve been on for several years now. It’s early, but I’m fairly certain I like my ip15pm more. The battery appears to be a welcome upgrade, but the rest can be left on the table.

I mean, one could argue that they've only added a single button since the inception of the iPhone really - zero if you include the home button they took away. Every iPhone has had a (1) volume up, (2) volume down, (3) mute switch, (4) sleep/wake button.

Replace the mute switch with a button isn't really adding a button to me, it's just changing a pre-existing mechanism. The Camera Control button is the first true addition I think they've made.

I’m looking forward to seven buttons on the iPhone 17.

They just need to add another camera shutter button on the left side for left handed people, and a dedicated Apple intelligence button to invoke Siri like the Bixby button on Samsung phones.
