No more gold contacts

    Anybody notice the headphone contacts on the iPod touch are no longer gold plated? Necessary for maximum audio quality :( Talk about cutting corners.

    Where they ever gold plated? I always thought they where brass.

    They were brass.
    Please they're $3.00 earbuds.

    Both gold/brass are more corrosion resistant than aluminum. Not everybody uses $3.00 earbuds.

    ...and if you really cared about audio quality, you wouldn't be using an Apple earphones in the first place.

    I think he means the internal connectors. They where always brass.

    They were always brass though ... but I did think you were talking about the actual ear buds.
    I see that now. I read it as the ear buds.

    Just clean them from time to time. Use some magnetic head cleaning fluid. It should get rid of the oxide layer, and thus, restore the audio quality.


    (And if you really care that much about audio quality, try the Cowon S9)
