In iOS 8 you can get to things in hand off from the opposite side of the apps in multitasking. It appears this is not the case in iOS 9 (beta 1). I used this all the time in iOS 8 and I think it would be a stupid thing to lose. If you can't get to it from multitasking you have to lock your device every time you want to open something with hand off. That just doesn't seem right to me.

Are you running iOS 9/OS X El Cap on all your devices? May just be that Handoff isn't working. (Of course, ignore this if it does work from the lock screen)

You are correct, we will no longer be able to get to handoff on that screen. Apple has something planned for that screen - Proactive Siri. You also make a very good point, it's more cumbersome to get to handoff if we have to lock our devices in order to access it.

He is referring to the leftmost screen in the App Switcher, not the home screen. On the home screen, not the app switcher, the new Search page will be the leftmost screen.

Ah, thank you for pointing that out, I happily stand corrected. I feel much better about Handoff now being that I have become accustomed to using it. I seem to remember the search function being to the left of the home screen in a previous version of iOS.. glad it's being returned.

How would you have implementated it? I'm just curious because I thought it was perfect.
I would have used a similar style as seen on OSX where the icon appears on the dock. This would be possible on an iPad but I'm unsure as to how it would be done on an iPhone with the limited dock size.

My issue with the existing/previous position in the multi tasker was that it took two button presses then a swipe to the left which seems like a lot? It all feels a bit 'out of the way'.

Just my opinion anyway.

I like the idea of handoff in the dock, why not make the dock scrollable when handoff is available. Don't know how you'd tell the user that it was available but just scroll left to get the handoff app open

Or put it in the new proactive search screen?
