Anyone hear a rumour that Apple has pulled the plus on the iPad Air line and there will be no iPad Air 3? That's what this site says. They are claiming that the iPad Pro is the successor to the iPad Air.

I really hope that this is not the case as I love the iPad Air and its size. I am waiting for Apple to release the iPad Air 3 so I can upgrade. But I do not want something as big as the iPad Pro. If Apple doesn't release an Air 3 they will loose me as a tablet customer. I really hope that this article it total BS. Anyone else hear this rumour or have any insight to what is happening with the iPad Air line?

Yeah, if you cannot pronounce the name of the web site, chances are their rumors are garbage.

When they unveiled the Pro and Mini 4 they stated that "this completes our iPad line up".

If the Air 2 was dropping in price to make way for an Air 3 it would have happened at the keynote.

There is no iPad Air 3 this year.

The iPad Air will continue to exist alongside the iPad Mini and the Pro. In my opinion, Apple offers the best options for tablets when it comes to screen sizes. Having a 7.9", 9.7" and 12.9" displays gives consumers the best options to choose which iPad is right for them.

I can't see Apple discontinuing the iPad Air line either. But the article makes it sound like Apple has pulled the plug on the Air line. Apple needs the 9.7" size as a lot find the mini to small and a lot don't want to have to carry around a 12.9 inch tablet. I think this article is BS. At least I hope it is.

Well, when a site I've never even heard of before reveals Apple's product plans, I sit up and pay attention.

In all seriousness, there's no reason to expect an Air 3 this year given the recent launch of the Mini 4 and the upcoming launch of the Pro, but there's also no reason to assume that the iPad Air line is over. I think that 9.7" will continue to be the most popular iPad size.

The funny thing is that the iPad that rational, thinking people think Apple might discontinue is not the 9 .7" size but the Mini, which is fairly close to the 6S Plus. I don't think that's a risk at this point based on the fact that after a year of selling the 6 Plus and the Mini, Apple went ahead and did a fairly extensive upgrade on the Mini, but it would be a more logical issue. The 9.7" iPad doesn't overlap anything else in the Apple line, unlike the iPad Pro (11" MBA, 12" rMB) and the Mini (6/6S Plus).

I have zero interest in a Mini, and zero interest in a Pro. If Apple discontinues the Air, they will lose countless customers.

For me the Air is the perfect size. I changed my iPad every year. The Pro is set at a different market. The Air will be back with a lot more technology built in that will come from the Pro. I think It will be here in Q2 '16
