I don't think I ever noticed one way or another. But then again, I'm old school - I was using "hehe" before "lol" became as commonplace as it is today.

i dont ever use lol, i find use haha and adding "ha"s depending on how funny i actually think it is meters my actual laughter pretty well and if i ever do use lol its sarcastic and i usually spell it lulz or something like that..

I noticed the lower case lol too right away. I wish they would stop capitalizing the word Townhome in the middle of a sentence. Why on earth does that word always get capitalized.

It's the fact people can't tell context through text sometimes and even though it's LOL still question you because it's all caps, I use lol and if it's really funny LOL with all caps being used to emphasize
