Someone on another thread just posted that Apple recently changed their return policy and that iPhones purchased online or for in-store pickup cannot be returned to Apple Store. I am not happy about this as I am not comfortable sending such an expensive item back for a refund to get a credit on my credit card. It does state that on the return policy page but when I ordered it did not say that.
 
I think that policy has been there for a while now but I'm not sure when it started.

I know it's been there before the 5s launched.

Now having said that, I've returned my 5s (online launch day order) with no problem to a local Apple Store.

I think it depends in the individual stores.

I see it in their policy online but I returned an iphone 2 weeks ago no problems? *shrug*

I did only try one of my local Apple stores. Maybe I would have had better luck at the other one. Gave up too soon and sent it back. I was a bit unsure of returning the phone via mail since Apple uses a smart label through USPS, but it was traceable and got to them pretty quickly. In the end, it worked out and I got the phone I wanted.
 
This is Apples policy but some have returned them directly to the store after purchasing same via online apple store without issues. Some customers have not been able to do this. I returned my first iphone 5S via USPS.
