Hi there. You state..Plus there is the additional windows options that give you split-view and slide over.
I have an iPad air 4 and have tried to get solid view on my iPad but cannot get it to work in ios26 at all you can you please give the exact steps you use to be able to enable split view.
I would really appreciate a step by step note.

I was trying this the other day in the office with my studio display and M4 iPad Pro. The second I closed the iPad (Magic Keyboard) or hit the sleep/wake button to turn off its display the studio display also went off. I was using ‘Windowed Apps’ for multitasking.
Anyway, hope its a bug and its something they’re actually working to enable.
There definitely appears to be some discrepancies between clamshell mode on iPadOS 28.
If someone who does have it working, would it be possible to share a a quick video? The screenshots are nice, but don’t really indicate
(Also, auto lock should be active. We do know that if the auto-lock is set to never close the lid, it will work).

Thanks for responding. That is what I have also used but still can't open two sides at the same time. Obviously I am not doing something right.
Slide over for messaging is really nice. I hope they can bring that back. Seems like it should work with windowing just fine.
I’m using it mostly with external display, Windowed Apps, I previously used stage manager and that still has an “add another window “
And I can’t seem to find that option in the windowed app

Slideover should just be included with the full screen option
Sorry but I don’t believe this. Show us a screenshot with your home screen on an external monitors if true we’ll see all your apps and widgets there.

It doesn’t give you an option to add another window directly, you have to add it from side bar (stage)

This is not the home screen with all your apps. Clamshell mode is just not in iPadOS 26.

I found mirror screen was too laggy in previous iOS.
Clam shell is Lock/unlock

How do you use the Windowing feature? I can't find any tips in Settings (and the animation isn't helping) I used Split Screen to have my text messages next to my YouTube for convenience and don't know how to toggle windowing mode to work around it missing. Is there a gesture or something? Also, what does that little handle in the lower right corner do?
Split View must return. I used it frequently. Way more convinient than stage manager or the new multi window mode.
I prefer that apple adds new flexibility but without removing features that people have used and loved for years.
