Thank God and good riddance. It was a pointless fee anyway. "Oh, so you like iPhones huh? Well, on top of paying us for the phone AND the privilege of using our service, how about a fee 'just because'?" I guess the flocking customers to other carriers lit a fire under their asses.

I'm betting the loyalty plan requires you to have one of their current plans, rather than any of the grandfathered ones.

Does the loyalty program affect your plans or fees? A representative state only those on the new Simplicity plan gets free activation and upgrades

It is my understanding that anyone with any of the legacy plans gets free activation and an upgrade.

All you have to do is go to Verizon Wireless and opt into the program (not necessarily the Simplicity plan).

There is no way that Verizon is letting go of the revenue gained from activation fees and other erroneous fees. They will hide that cost from the customer. If Verizon truly cared about putting the customer first, they would have not have price-gouged the customers to begin with, with the overpriced monthly service, in my opinion.

As a US Mobile customer, I pay less than half what Verizon charges, and I am using the same cell towers, not to mention I have never been asked to pay an activation fee.
