I am sure I am not the only one here who thinks that queing is totally uneccassary for the UK iPhone launch.

I doubt that ANY shops will sell out of iPhones on Friday night and although I do think the possibility exists that smaller cpw/02 shops may run out in smaller towns I doubt that any will be out before the end of the day on Saturday.

I do wonder how many general people are going to be so keen to buy an iPhone tomorrow and how many of us "apple fanboys/ gadget lovers" are going to be buying them?

I am certain that everyone that goes to buy one tomorrow night will have no issues getting one.

But then again we are guessing! If every CPW got a minimum of 100 then can you really see 100 people spending £269 in EVERY town there is a CPW over the weekend? not to mention O2 shops!?

Im sure iPhones will sell quickly BUT not so quickly that anywhere runs out! the price alone will stop that happening!

I think that you are right.
I seriously doubt that people will have any issues with getting their mitts on one. Apple really do not want to be known as the Nintendo Wii of the mobile world whereby you still struggle to get one a year after launch. That is why I believe that Apple have shipped in enough handsets to go around.

Saying that however I am still going to go and sit outside an Apple store from about 4pm tomorrow just to make sure.

I think the queuing is more a public celebration of out-and-out geekiness than a genuine concern for availability. It's very rare that the Apple loyal get the chance to get together in public and really get their nerd on, and such instances should be embraced.

I'm getting mine online.
