After I updated my iPhone 12 Pro Max to iOS 15.1 last night I do not receiving any notification sound on incoming messages, is it just me?

It isn't just you. I updated last night with zero issues with Airtags but only noticed this morning that while my phone screen is on, I will get notifications but when the screen is off, I do not. I only know because my watch still vibrates when messages come in.

No Message sounds here on my new phone, but have them on an iPad updated to 15.

I tried chatting with Apple support but after 25 minutes of nothing helpful, I was told I can call support for senior level support. Have not had a chance yet to do it, but getting messages is crucial for me.

I still have issues with no sound notifications on messages, what’s going on here? I have missed plenty of messages today :(

I am in the process of downloading iOS 15.1 Public Beta 2 and fingers crossed it fixes the Apple Watch bug and hopefully this bug. I am increasingly thinking the iMessage notification problem we are all experiencing is some sort of bug with the Focus feature that has been added in iOS 15. Although I have not been able to restore the iMessage functioning as before, I did fix a problem with an app I must use for work called Haiku, which is the mobile phone client for the Epic patient health record. For the first couple of days with my new iPhone 13 Pro, I would not get any patient or colleague notifications in Haiku until I made sure it was not involved in any Focus scenes etc. My guess, Apple engineers will determine that is why iMessage has stopped working as expected for us.

iOS 15.1 Public Beta 2 does NOT address this problem. I get visuals and haptics on my Apple Watch for a text but no sound nor haptics on my iPhone 13 Pro. Boo!

FYI, I just got a text with sound and haptics while hold my phone composing an email. No sound no haptics if my phone is sitting idle with the screen off. Anyone else have this pattern?

I still wonder whether Focus is implicated. But I am reliably getting sound and haptics after turning off Scheduled Summary in Notifications. Still no sound nor haptics if my screen is off.

I have now figured the problem is related to the Do Not Disturb settings in Focus. For many months, I had do not disturb settings 10p to 7a. They worked fine through the early public betas of iOS 15. But now, it would seem that having any Do Not Disturb settings silences iMessage even outside of the specified hours. I deleted my old scheduled hours on my iPhone 13 Pro and re-added them. The bug remains when the hours are on. The sound and haptics work when the hours are off or if the screen is awake, or, if iMessage is open on another MacOS or iOS device.
