After 5 times of backing up my iPhone 6S and then restoring my new iPhone 7 from that backup, none of my text messages show up. Called Apple and dealt with 2 different people and no one seems to know why they aren't showing up on the new phone. I need help, please.

Just so everyone knows, I was able to fix this by backing up to iCloud when phone was attached to iTunes and then restoring new iPhone 7 from that backup. I really don't understand why the backup to iTunes wouldn't put the messages and contacts on my phone. I had tried backing up wirelessly to iCloud and that didn't work either.
