But I guess what I'm asking is, would you want the 512 if you know you're only going to use maybe 10-15% of its capacity?
Yes. Because there could be times where I might need it or wish to use it. Kicking myself with regret for not having it when I need/want it is not a feeling I like.

People in general are never satisfied. That's the sad and unfortunate state of humanity.

Why on earth anyone needs more than 64GB on a phone is beyond me, but that's a discussion for another day. I was fine with 32GB personally. :D

In this day and age of 4K video recording and high resolution photos I’m not sure why that’s so hard to believe for you. I have 61gb just in photos and videos alone... I have a 3 year old and a 9 month old so I tend to capture a lot of memories. And that’s just one of many reasons why people would need more than 64gb. People thinking that just because they don’t need something, then nobody else does is just as bad as the folks that are always complaining.

So I saw a post where it stated that “why would anyone get a 64GB phone?” and thought to myself just how unsatisfied people are nowadays. Just last year everyone was complaining that there was no 64GB option as it was the “perfect” storage option. Well now that it is the base, it just is not “enough.” The phones run the same. Unless you need EVERYTHING on your phone 64GB is more than enough still. It’s annoying when the nitpicking gets to the SAME model of phone but they begin to knock the lower storage capacity.
- 16 GBs were shameful
- 32 GBs were the bare minimum
- 64 GBs are actually good.
Credit where credit is due
(Too bad for the 50$ price increase)

Okay, I hear you. Though that seems a bit extreme. It's pretty unlikely that you'll suddenly need like 10 times the storage you're currently using, but whatever floats your boat.

I suppose I find it mind-boggling that we're all queried for opinions on purchases that others would not buy (and I do respond to some.) My habit of constantly adding and removing movies from my iPhones, going forward I will purchase the lowest capacity that works for me. I'm my own cloud and rarely fill up the Phone up. Partially because I've noticed slow downs if the drive is more than half full, so it's an old habit.

All that said, this may become moot if iTunes movies keep increasing in size. Many HD films are almost 4 - 7 GB, so suddenly I am glad I have a 128gb 7+.

I try not bash the reasons why folks would buy or not buy a specific capacity though. Everyone's needs/wants are different.

I have 225GB of lossless audio (Phish and Grateful Dead shows) that I want on my iPhone so I can listen to my music when traveling or when I’m out running or when I’m out fishing on my boat where there is no data coverage. My 128GB 6s Plus wasn’t large enough and my new used 7 Plus is barely enough. I hope a future iPhone has 512GB.

Apple wants everyone to be buying iCloud storage and using their on-device storage as a cache. I was never satisfied with the amount of storage on iPhones (always bought max storage, but I always ended up running out of space constantly and having to delete photos/videos to make room). I finally gave in and started using iCloud Photos (was not easy to get that working with my existing 500GB collection), and now I think 128GB is about the right amount of storage for me. I also stopped storing music on-device as streaming services became reliable enough. If I hadn't changed my usage patterns and didn't end up using my on-device storage as mostly a cache, I'd be asking when are we getting 1TB on an iPhone? :)

Totally understand as my wife and I have 6 month old twin boys. I take pictures like crazy but I just use the 2TB iCloud storage I have and share it with my wife. Perfect solution for me! But I can understand why more internal storage would be necessary for photos, videos, and movies.
