    Hi everyone,
This is on behalf of my uncle in another country.
He is on Tiger and was using the bootcamp beta.
He is trying to remove his bootcamp partition and when he runs the bootcamp utility (after changing the date) he has no option for returning to single partition, he just gets the options for setup guide, a read me file and install bootcamp.mpkg

    Thanks in advance
    Andrew

The Tiger beta didn't support this option, mainly as Disk Utility in Tiger doesn't support this option.

is that the only way to remove bootcamp then?
im on tiger and removed it by "restoring to single partition"
hes only relatively new to macs so cant really see this being an option.

Would upgrading to leopard give him the option? may be easier.

Considering you should always make a backup before upgrading, I don't see this being any easier.

You're right, that was in the Boot Camp beta in Tiger.
However, it's still not part of Disk Utility in Tiger.

If memory serves me correctly (and clearly it's not), sometimes the partition was deleted, but not added back to the boot volume's partition map? Beta software and all. In which case, the ONLY recourse in Tiger is to do what kingjr posted..

    "Backup, format, restore."

Disk Utility in Leopard allows one to partition on the fly, whereas Tiger does not.

Perhaps his version of the beta is too old and doesn't support this behavior?
Perhaps he doesn't understand what he's doing?

In the end, he really only has 1 choice.

well thanks for the help everyone.
he has been debating moving to leopard so may aswell kill to birds with one stone.
this could result in frequent long distance phone calls, dont suppose apple have a service where you pay them to upgrade to leopard do they?

Nope. Not Apple. But perhaps a local computer consultant with Apple skills?

ok so after a bit of skyping with him (parents werent to happy about the amount of time we were using on the phone)
i found out he had bootcamp beta 1.2. where as i had 1.3 so i found a third party source that has the 1.3 beta on it, so he is going to download that and install that, and that should hopefully give him the return to single partition option.
everything is backed up incase of emergency anyway so all being well it will work.
i will report back if it works.
