no osx restore disk & backup does not work

Where to begin a friend surfing the web shuts down my laptop I power up login desktop dashboard documents gone so throw disk 1 in no prob ,my original cd dissapeared in august with my car,the backup I made does'nt work at all. Since Im in that same boat not working I dont have the hundred and change to buy a new disc.... I've got $20.00, X Planes 8 deluxe ,Parallels Desktop and 2 512mb ddr to work with if anyone could help I live in riveride and will drive almost anywhere in So Cal ....... My mac is mid 2007 13in macbook 2.16 duo core tiger10.4 if someone could help .........THANKS BRY
