I have more than one screen recorder software. None of them will record a stream on Catalina or Ventura. They all work with High Sierra. It is not a blocking issue with the sites and Criterion etc. that can block or they would not work with High Sierra. I have High Sierra on two different Imacs. I have Ventura on a mac mini m2. I can take screenshots but cannot record streams. This is obviously a serious flaw with the current and more recent OS systems. Probably some stupid security thing with Apple. They need to fix it.
I have all the permissions properly set. With High Sierra more than one browser works.

Which software?

EDIT: In System Preferences/Settings, Privacy and Security, the apps are enabled under Screen Recording?

All the permissions are set. Software is Uniconvertor (Wondershare), OBS, Quick Time, and Toast.
I can record Brit Box and BBC Iplayer with Ventura.

You can't record DRM content, which is what it sounds like you are trying to do.

It seems Apple is blocking the recording of DRM’d content on newer OS releases. I tried to grab a clip of a movie off Prime and the recording is just blank. (Monterey)

You're trying to record copy-protected content, which is not exactly a legal endeavor. This isn't a case of the screen recorder software not working, but a case of the software not working for your intended purpose.
As stated above. I ike to use clips thst arre legal for seminars etc. But, am not surprised that Apple would do it...just like like google. The legal issue is one thing...

Yes. That seems to be the case. Personally, I dony think it is any of Apple's busainess, but they do havwe their own streamin channel now and I would not be surprosed if that is the reason. Although you have to have asubscription to have acces to any of those type of sites.

this isn't about the streaming source (ie apple tv), or a dvd... it's about the content itself, and there's no legal workaround for recording same. not allowing such recording is protection for the copyright owners (not that this stops anyone from posting clips on youtube, or downloading movies). but legally... it's a 'no'.

With the way copyright laws have been updated for the digital era and implemented both in the US and overseas, companies have a vested interest in complying with those regulations. Smaller companies and developers might be able to play around the edges of those laws, but big corporations such as Google and Apple could face massive fines if found to enable certain types of infringement.

Not a decision made by Apple. This is the movie companies/streaming services forcing Apple's hand.

Have you tried Capto?
