i've lost the ability to search when Launchpad is open...

am used to doing a 4-finger swipe, then typing a name of an app (my most-used apps are there on the default page).

i've tried resetting the dock in terminal. deleting the Dock folder (from App support in user prefs).

    logging out, in.

    rebooting.

any ideas, anyone? i DID recently uninstall Xcode (which i thought i would use, and wound up NOT using), but not aware of any other changes...

That was awfully quick. Are you sure you let Spotlight complete its indexing?

I agree. It is not likely that the reindex would complete in only 35 minutes.
Although, I suppose if you have an SSD, that might go fairly quickly. With a hard drive, at least an hour or two, maybe longer.

256G SSD, about 130GB used. 35 minutes! (mostly work in Logic X, with audio files and older projects stored on external drives...).
