oh... ok... just read the TC's first postIt's not a coverage issue. Most of us had a previous iPhone 3G before that pulled a solid 3G connection constantly and since switching to a new 3Gs.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Our Apple Store definitely doesn't handle things like that. They will fix it right there one way or another whether it takes replacing the phone or sending you to AT&T to get the SIM replaced. Even if its sending you to AT&T and it doesn't fix it and you need to come back, they will take care of you. I'll let you know what I find out tomorrow. Good luck getting your issue fixed.
Just wanted everyone to know that I recieved my replacement iphone and so far my coverage is holding at 3 bars and only dropping to 2 bars.
Before the spot that I am in it would have stayed at no service and periodically switched to 3 bars to no bars to no service.
I'll just keep my fingers crossed that this stays like this for good.
Good to hear! I just got my SIM replaced so we will see how that goes....
Where did you order your replacement from, and whom did you ask for a replacement from? My nearest Apple Store is 60 miles away, but I have 3 AT&T stores within 5 miles.I have been all over town today with the replacement iphone and everything thing seems fine. Getting the same reception that I got with my blackberry, and some places seem a little better.
Must have been something wrong with the phone. Just glad to finally see what all the iphone hype is about.
No difference with replacement SIM... out $25, but a worthwhile test.
Still 3 bars to 2 bars to 1 bar to 'Searching'. Then back to 3... hover at 2... etc. All in the space of 5 minutes or so. At home. At work it's a consistent 2-3 bars.
With my RAZR (w/ AT&T) I was at full bars everywhere.
Yep, they charged my $25 for the SIM. I explained the problem that I was experiencing, and that the SIM swap was noted as a potential fix. After she said it would be $25 and that they couldn't install it in the store, I asked if it was covered under some sort of warranty because the phone was only 3 days old. She said no, it was not.Are you saying they charged you for the replacement SIM? If they suspected something was wrong with your SIM it shouldn't have cost you anything. At least that has always been my experience with the AT&T stores I've dealt with.
Thanks - I'll give that a shot this week!Ben C.
I called apple direct and told them about the problem. And after troubleshooting the iphone with no results, they told me they would overnight a new iphone.
That was on Saturday morning, and I recieved the new iphone this morning.
Excellent - sounds effortless (like Zappos shoes!).Ben C.
Box came with a return label on it, even had tape in the box to retape it.
Just go to fedex and give it to them, but make sure you get a reciept to show proof that you shipped it.

First time for everything.Wow, $25 for a replacement SIM that might be defective?! I walked into AT&T, told the guy my problem, told him my troubleshooting, he said "Wow, guess you already did my job for me" and he replaced my SIM free of charge. Never heard of a charge for a replacement SIM for a defective one.
