No Service UK iPhone 3G 16GB how to activation not working

Hey i got iphone 3G 8Gb
Few days ago i buy on gumtree iphone 3g 16 Gb but i cant activate this iphone via itunes or of is telling me waiting for activation
(i think might be stolen or lost ) i call up O2 customer service to find out what is wrong i give them IMEI number and the women told me is restricted iphone
This mean then i never activate this iphone ?
What if i go to Belgium , or Germany to and unlocked this iphone and activation via itunes will work with UK simcard ?
Is this might worked or is just waste of time and money ?


HELP PLEASE !!!!!!

It means it's banned from the UK networks (and I think European networks too). Most likely reported stolen by the original owner. I don't think there's anything you can do to get round that. Sell it in Africa maybe?
