Just to confirm, not that's it's groundbreaking, the unlocked iPhone 5s do come with the "extractor".

Never knew you guys in USA didn't get one. Had a 3G, 4 and now 5s and all came with the extractor.

I didn't get a sim extractor with my 5s ordered through Apple. ATT
Do they not provide them anymore?
I tried to use a paperclip and for the life of me I couldn't get it to work!
I had to dig a sim extractor out of an old 3GS box I still had around, thank gawd.
Is mine MIA or is apple getting cheap?

I thought it was strange that my iPhone 5 had one but my wife's didn't. I bought mine in Canada, but we went to the US to buy the T-Mobile version in April.

My 5s from Canada has one as well.

I have purchased AT&T 4, 4S, and 5S. Never received a sim eject tool. I did buy some knockoff tools on eBay. A pack of 20 for cheap.

I do have one original apple one. Snagged it out of a box when I sold a 3G for a friend. That one stays on my keys.

Ahh happened to me too! I couldn't open it at all on my 5s. I used a paper clip and thumb tack and it wouldn't pop out. Drove to best buy nearby and had them do it. They did it with no problem. :/

I've never had a phone that didn't have one included ( UK based) but a pin or similar small item is adequate for the job, and it'snot like you are taking the sim in and out all the time...Can't see why Apple would have stopped supplying them though. Maybe with all the stock issues etc. they decided to shop the phones out rather than waiting for a supply of such an unimportant item in the box.

Nobody needs sim extractors anymore. It's a waste of money Apple including them, and it's important they focus on profit margin to keep Wall Street off their backs.

These extractors probably cost pennies each, all in. It's a nice touch and is consistent with the brand.

Just my $0.02.

I still have a couple of the originals (USA iPhones 3GS only) that were made out of Liquid Metal. Apple was testing this metal but it never made it to the iPhones probably due to cost and mass production. They were extremely tough to bend.

If it doesn't bend easily it is the Liquid Metal version.

Also, see http://www.intomobile.com/2010/08/17/apple-amazing-new-use-for-liquidmetal-technologies/

Exactly where is the hole into which this SIM ejector tool is inserted? I have a friend who wants to 1) unlock his iPhone and 2) insert another carrier's SIM.

Pretty sure only contract free or factory unlocked iPhones come with one. No big deal really, use a clip or toothpick. They're also dirt cheap on eBay.

I didn't get one with my 5 or 5S, purchased through Apple (paid full retail) and Verizon respectively. But I did get one when I got a white-box replacement 5 from Apple (after the scuffgate scandal last year).

I saw a 5C the other day with a SIM extractor included. Was U.S. So they do exist still yet. I don't understand the complete lottery-esque, sporadic nature of their inclusion.
