iPad Pro No slide up on Home Bar with Pencil?

Is anyone else annoyed by the lack of being able to slide the Home Bar up with the Apple Pencil 2 on new iPad Pro?
I use my Pencil as a mouse for EVERYTHING and I always have to flick the pencil up out of the way to release my thumb so I can slide the Home Bar up. So irritating.
First world problems I know, but still.

Same here. Even knowing I can’t use the pencil, I continually find myself trying every once in a while. Maybe after a few weeks I get used to not using the Pencil.

Me too! I keep forgetting that it won't work and I try anyway.

Ditto. I to have complained about Apples pencil, and filed a feedback, which I hope everyone does to give us this function with the Apple Pencil. I don’t like having to use my finger to swipe up smudging the screen so I now have not only the pencil, but I also have a soft touch stylus that I use. I don’t think it’s too difficult to give us the option.

Probably like this to avoid problems when writing or drawing at the edge of the page. Most stylii are awful at the edges and the Pencil is excellent there.

thanks for posting that. I did send my feedback.
I would think it would be an easy software fix to enable this and maybe even a toggle for those who draw and it might interfere with that? I don't draw so it doesn't affect me.

There are certain functions that due to the nature of the pencil and its intended use that will not work. I frequently use a stylus for such basic functions or just my finger if I’m using the pencil. This is one area we just need to accept.

It never worked.
The iPad Pro 1 and 2 both had similar gestures to go to the app drawer or home and it never worked with the Pencil. So it's not new.

This. It would annoy me if it did do it. I also find that when I'm using the Pencil I always have a finger nearby

I was dismayed that I can’t access Notifications by flicking pencil down from the top. Seems so simple. Like you, the pencil is my finger and often use for typing and clicking.

Places like in Numbers to edit a cell won’t work, things I want to draw. Just examine what Microsoft Excel does. You can have a selection on the ribbon for what you want to use. It does not have to be this way.

An easy solution, a setting to enable or disable drawing, per app, or system wide, or by a click on a button on the pencil. Can’t say they haven’t looked at what they can learn from Samsung.

Don’t think so. I’m on the latest developer beta and it’s not enabled.

Doubtful it ever will - they made it that way on purpose.

I can’t predict the future but as others have said, if the flick up or down worked it would create issues when writing or drawing close to the edges. Unless Apple finds a work around, I hope they never enable it. Flicking from the bottom would also “close out” the app you would be working in. A simple wrong pencil stroke would cause issues.

makes sense, i use my stylus primarily for navigation, i prefer it to using a finger but i don't use it for drawing ... yet ... i am really interested in the enhanced ability to markup web pages so that may change
