No sound device since Leopard patch ?!

It appears my sound device has gone missing since the last Leopard Patch.

Has anyone heard about this issue somewhere else ? any idea how I can get it back ?

I do hear the usual sound when I star up my powerbook, so I don't believe the device is broken.
Instead, all I have i a 'no output devices found' message in my Sounds preferences.

Uhh, if your Signature is correct then you don't even have Leopard. What are you talking about? And isn't 10.4.11 out already? Go update to that and get back to us.

Updated my signature - I have Mac OS 10.5.1.

I have the same issue with a C2D Mini. It can only find a firewire sound device. The internal device doesn't show.

Have you checked and installed the latest security update, 1.1?

Did you do a 10.5.1 install off the website or through the 'software update'?

I used Software Update.

A new update was available this morning when I restarted my laptop. After installing, guess what ? The sound device is recognized again.

All is fine again.
