No sound, except function keys

I got this weird thing that started today. I dont have sound on anything, itunes gives me an error when starting so i cant open that. Youtube/facebook doesn't play the sound, If i open a movie from my HDD i got no sound in VLC.

THe only thing that makes sound are the volume buttons up and down 😕

Ideas?

It might help if you gave more detailed information about your setup. What Mac ? What version of OS ? Is it connected to an external output source like TV, speakers, receiver etc ?
