I've got the red light syndrome and while I once was able to fix it by jamming things in the headphone jack, that won't work anymore. I thought if I installed windows on this computer it would work or I would be able to override it somehow.

Here is the weird thing. When I plug a headphone jack while running windows, the speakers play sound for a second, then it goes to the headphones. There has got to be a way to override this crap.

also, have no applecare and don't wish to solve this problem with money thanks

AND windows xp sp3

it sounds like it's defaulting to the mini spdif jack or whatever it's called. check your playback devices under sounds, in control panel. set the speakers to default

I think I've gone down the control panel route before BUT---- when sound playback, I only have one option (which should be the right one): Realtek HD audio output.

I've read a bit about this problem with bootcamp and I think it may have to do with the driver. Some people with the red light problem had no trouble as soon as they installed windows. I think my problem might be hardware. BUT MY SPEAKERS KEEP TAUNTING ME!

Thanks for the quick reply
