Yesterday, I was trying to send and receive calls, but I couldn't hear the person on the other end. At first I thought it was a jailbreak or unlock issue. I nearly restored the phone to start all over, but...

I discovered that the phone thought that the headphones were plugged in, even though they weren't! I'm not quite sure how I fixed the problem, but probably by inserting the headphones, making a call, and then removning them during the call. Now it works normally.

Anyone else run into this? Is is a known issue?

it's a well known issue, nothing to do with a jailbreak/unlock

I had that problem before. It's a bug when trying to use your headphone. Next time it happens, plugged your headphones back in and then unplug it again. That should take care of the bug.

I tried that in the first instance, and nothing happened. Doing that whilst on a call fixed it. Perhaps the phone needs to be using the port (on a call, playing iTunes, etc.) when you disconnect the headphones to recognise it.

I suspect that Apple is aware of this bug. Maybe they'll fix it eventually. Mainly I just wanted to post this so people didn't confuse the problem with a jailbreak/unlock issue and go off restoring their phone to fix it (like I nearly did).
